The Land Beneath Us: Update Log from the Demo to the Day 1 release.

Hello everyone!

Firstly, thank you so much for playing our Demo, and wishlisting The Land Beneath Us on all the platforms. The overwhelming support means so much to us as indie developers.

During the past few months, we’ve received plenty of love and care from the community with all the comments, feedback, and suggestions you have given us. (And we’re listening!)

Here is a list of fixes and adjustments we’ve implemented in our latest update thanks to all the comments from the community.

General Fixes

  • Corrected the logic for dead count.
  • Fixed an issue where the game would hang-alive when the player used the specific Relic set; "Dish" (enhanced version), and "Bloody Edge."
  • Fixed the issue where the game would enter an incorrect phase when the player is stunned.
  • Fixed an issue where Sven is unable to choose what weapon to keep for the next run when dying while having the Fate Binding upgrade purchased.
  • Fixed an issue where the player can encounter broken dropped Relics.
  • Fixed an issue where the Quest panel would not refresh if there were non-Steam achievement quests.
  • Fixed an issue where the inventory item info box does not hide on deselect.
  • Fixed an issue where the enemy would not immediately be inflicted status effects after walking on an effect tile.
  • Fixed an issue where button visuals did not change when connecting a controller while still using a keyboard.
  • Fixed the King Slime logic to prevent it from jumping out of the map.
  • Fixed the issue where Sven is walkable while selecting an equipment
  • Fixed the issue where the Menu can be scrolled through while the Credits are running.
  • Fixed an issue where the trigger buttons give double input in the Options panel.
  • Fixed an issue where the gameplay UI and Pause Menu could be opened at the same time.
  • Fixed an issue where the left/right arrow keys could not be used in the Options panel.
  • Fixed an issue where the player can be stunned while walking in the middle between two tiles.
  • Fixed an issue where the stack indicator of a weapon is incorrect.
  • Fixed an issue where the text extended off-screen in the Enemy archive and Chips description panel.
  • Fixed an issue where the world UI panel overrides the world name.
  • Fixed an issue where button pictograms were overlapping in the tutorial.
  • Fixed missing characters in Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.
  • Fixed the issue where the player is movable during the Lobby transition.
  • Fixed the issue where the Skull Warlock and Skull Tech Warlock created skills outside of the tile map.
  • Fixed the issue where the Enhancer's room appears during the run.
  • Fixed an issue where the bosses do not receive trap damage.
  • Fixed the issue where the Rewards panel selects more than 1 object.
  • Fixed the issue where the Overkill-spear indicator is always being shown.
  • Fixed the issue where the Skull Mage's sound effects loop would not stop when it was killed while channeling.
  • Fixed the issue where the player can not change the Chip Mode with the mouse on the PC.
  • Fixed an issue where the inspector could not detect dropped Relics and Equipment.
  • Fixed the issue where the player's status does not instantly update when enhancing/picking up items.
  • Fixed the issue where the player receives a double status effect when they enter an Event room.
  • Fixed the issue where title UI buttons can break the flow by spamming submit.
  • Fixed the issue where the Chest Mimic's ambush state is brighter than the real chest.
  • Fixed the problem where, after talking with the Relic Merchant, the dialogue would appear to continue.
  • Fixed the issue where opening the Options panel would cause pressing the left or right button to switch window modes.

Fixed Sound Issues

  • Fixed the navigation sound in the splash screen and options panel.
  • Added ambient sound for each world.
  • Added sound effects when unable to equip a chip.
  • Added sound effects when upgrading the storyline.

Polish and Improvements

  • The mouse can now be used in the UI.
  • Added info boxes for Relics and Weapons.
  • Added a Keyword box in the Archives panel, the Inventory panel, the Chip panel, and the Upgrade panel.
  • Added Keyword information and an Inspector system for Status Effects, Relics, and Equipment.
  • Updated game credits and splash screen.
  • Updated the visual for status effects.
  • The Options panel can now be closed with the same button.
  • Improved UX for equipment-related panels.
  • Added silhouette tint to enemies when they are behind obstacles.
  • Moon detail is now shown in the result screen.
  • Added vibrations when upgrading the storyline.
  • Update the game's logo.
  • Build info is now shown in the Settings panel.
  • Updated the HUD for player status effects.
  • Updated the visual for Chip Lock Mode and implemented a Chip Buffer Indicator.
  • Optimized asset loading.
  • Implement a multi-attack tile type.
  • Added VFX when stepping on King Slime's child in the spawning state.
  • Added VFX when the Chest Mimic dies.
  • Improved the VFX of status effects.
  • Updated the visual for the Lobby Station's assets.
  • Added UI for the passives of certain weapons that have a stack or countdown.

Localization

  • Updated Chinese localization.
  • Updated Relic, Equipment, and Chip descriptions and terminology.
  • Updated localization for the Gate description.
  • Changed "damage" to "dmg" in Relic descriptions.
  • Changed the description of the Keywords: Counter, Knockback, Mark, Poison, Max Level, and Shield.

Balancing

  • Shield will be kept after the room is cleared.
  • Replaced "Soul Extractor" with "Gold Extractor" due to the limited availability of gold.
  • Updated the "Spoon" Relic rarity from Common to Rare.
  • Rebalanced Halberd, Survival Scarf, Weakness Focus, Ring of Perfection, Green Piggy Bank, Orange Piggy Bank, Basher, Final Core, Red Piggy Bank, Nuada’s Ring, Ring of Arawn, Vel Armor, and Bloody Edge.
  • Piggy Bank-types will update their status every turn.
  • Adjusted Relic drop rates.
  • Rebalanced Chips.
  • Updated the "Bloody Edge" equipment to require 20 stacks for each +2 DMG.
  • Updated the "Basher" damage calculation logic to match other bonus damage calculations.
  • Balanced the Shaman Totem; the first spawn countdown will be 2 turns, after that, it will be 10 turns, and the totem will drain its HP by 45% each time it summons a Skull Warrior.
  • Adjusted the Permanent-Core-Upgrade Soul cost.
