Our Journey as FairPlay Studios

Founded in 2018, FairPlay Studios started as a small group of like-minded individuals with a passion for gaming. Consisting of industry veterans and avid gamers, the FairPlay Studios team strives to create games that we, as gamers ourselves, would love to play.

Upon our founding, our team started working on our first-ever flagship “Fallen Knight” - a side scrolling action platformer with a nostalgic flair. After a year of development, in 2019, our game was released on Apple Arcade, being the first Thai game on the platform.

In 2020, we started working on our second project “At Your Service” - a chaotic couch co-op housekeeping game, as well as other projects such as “The Land Beneath Us” - a turn-based roguelike dungeon crawler, and other games from our substudio “Holy Basil Studios” such as “Himmapan Marshmello Saga” - a Nonster raising game, in 2021.

Ultimately, FairPlay Studios strives to create games with innovation, dedication, and passion in mind. Our projects reflect the hardcore gamers in each of our team members. We look to create games where we ourselves as gamers would love to play and we hope to share that enjoyment with you.

The Team

keymans_0005_Thanisorn

Thanisorn Boonsoong (Phet)

“Games are, in essence, a boundless life experience whereby human imagination is truly the only limit.”

Since childhood, Thanisorn had dreamt of one day creating his own MMORPG. Just the charm of the possibility to create a new world, new life, and new economy, is just so stimulating! He refers to the anime SAO as the closest manifestation of his dream.
Games had always been a part of his childhood, and growing up, he viewed them as a form of enjoyment and reward. As a child, he was a fan of Winning Eleven, Time Crisis, Kamen Rider, and PC games such as Stronghold Crusader, Medieval Total War, and Lineage 2 (He fondly remembers lounging in big gaming chairs with multi-monitor displays in a department store gaming arcade, buying time cards to play his favorite games). These days, his favorite game genres include Historical-strategy games, story-rich FPS, and sports games.
Over the years, Thanisorn kept his innate desire to make his own game and eventually met his fellow co-founders of FairPlay Studios. After listening to and being pitched various game ideas, he envisioned the inception of FairPlay Studios as the perfect alliance between the creative minds of his co-founders and his business acumen. As the studio's chairman, he brings his entrepreneurial experience to the FairPlay Studios team as they embark on a journey together into the game industry.

keymans_0007_Panthira

Panthira Boonsoong (Phrae)

“Games are made, not as a way to waste time, but as a way to cherish and enjoy your time with the endless possibilities of creativity and imagination.”

Being an introvert, creating art, and gaming have always been Panthira favourite hobbies. Growing up, Panthira enjoyed the immersion brought by gaming. Captivated by the in-game worlds, characters, and interactions, she felt that gaming truly brought color to the monotonous routine of student life- through gaming, you can be whoever and wherever you want to be as long as you can imagine it. As an artist, she had a particular affection for concept art and the design of various forms of media. When the time came to decide what she wanted to do in the future, she chose to study abroad in Florida to broaden her horizons, pursuing a bachelor's in Computer Animation, where she could gain an understanding of what it truly takes to bring her imagination to life creatively and technically from creation to completion. Bringing her knowledge of Animation and Visual Development, to the studio, she is able to work with the multiple departments within the studio- participating in various creative aspects within the timeline of creating a game from the preproduction to post-release.

keymans_0004_Tinnapop

Tinnapop Sonporm (Bird)

“Games are a form of bringing joy and entertainment. I want others to smile happily while playing my game.”

Raised in a loving family, Tinnapop's family allowed him to play many games ever since he was in elementary school. At that time, he decided to spread his fondness for games by creating fan-made Harvest Moon and Resident Evil 4 games in a notebook using his own art style and shared them amongst his friends. Tinnapop was super happy when he found out that his self-made paper games made his friends and young relatives smile. With the smiles and happiness of others as his motivation, Tinnapop strived to enter Silpakorn University, where he could cultivate his knowledge of computer games and computer skills from the Faculty of Science (BS). Tinnapop is on his way to delivering happiness to the players, especially to the adolescents and his friends’ children. From being a small group of delinquents in the corner of a classroom to a studio with specialized staff, from a paper game to PC/mobile/console game, and from a player to a creator, Bird's journey reflects that we can turn the things that we love into a fulfilling occupation.

keymans_0006_Pitchayah

Pitchayah Choothian (Yah)

“Games connect people from all around the world. Our games can reach our players worldwide, but they have a choice to choose worldwide too.”

A middle child of the Choothian family, an ex-roommate of Tinnapop, and a big fan of Ragnarok- that’s how Pitchayah became connected to the game industry. When he was young, his father bought a Famicom 1 intending to keep his sons playing within his sight, and ta-da… it worked! This witty plan continued throughout Pitchayah's childhood and eventually led to his growing interest in games. Pitchaya kept asking himself, "what would it feel like to have a game created with my own ideas?" while exploring and developing his imagination through the games he played on the Super Famicom, PS1, PS3, and PS4. In freshman year, Pitchaya met his upperclassman, Tinnapop. They both shared the same interests in games, and despite being in different departments (Phitchaya chased a path of being a Game Design major), it was not a hard decision to make when he was invited to join FairPlay Studios after being reunited with this friend of a different age. Pitchayah is now a key team member, giving form and shapes to objects and ideas based on physics and sometimes beyond imagination. He is regarded within the studio as the man who brings 'life' to our works.

keymans_0002_Pana

Pana Pohnrum (X)

“I’ll make you fall for me by making games.”

Similarly to the many other FairPlay Studios members, Pana started showing his passion for drawing to his classmates. Instead of jumping into the fierce competition of school life, he dedicated his free time (anytime and anywhere - to be precise) to doing art exchange challenges with his friends. He found inspiration from notable TV cartoons and gathered snippets of ideas from everyone around him. During his student days, Pana used to compromise his passion and followed an academic path. Eventually, he couldn't bear to throw his skills away, so he was determined to redraw his new beginning- He once again pursued his love of art and entered a college specializing in the digital arts and animation field without any prior knowledge, choosing the college solely based on its promotional video which had beautifully stunning CG and 3D art. That path he chose has never proved him wrong. He is now a capable and dependable Art Director with a portfolio full of experience at FairPlay Studios.

keymans_0003_Watcharaphong

Watcharaphong Meearharn (Title)

“Games are media that allow users to immerse, interact, and be impressed. Imagine that we - a player and a studio - can communicate with players through this media. It sounds super fun, doesn’t it?“

Have you fallen for our 2D art? Then you must have been defeated by our boss hidden in the shadows! Watcharaphong is always behind the curtains, ready to deliver art in various styles. This mysterious man has spent his lifetime harvesting lots of drawing experience and uses them to their finest in FairPlay Studios. Back when making games was not so widespread in Thailand, Watcharaphong had done many interactives, animation series, and R&D before joining game companies and collecting many medals of honor! He has plenty of experience, being a 3D modeler, technical artist, senior game artist, marketing designer, and senior UI artist. After developing a glamourous portfolio for a while, he began his journey of world domination by inviting other co-founders to form FairPlay Studios, alluring them with “I see your potential”. It's such a relief knowing that he is now rooting for FairPlay Studios.

keymans_0000_Methawoot

Methawoot Suphakul (Bas-kun)

“Game development is about studying previously existing defects and improving them. Remember not to be sorry but become better.”

If every survival plot has a character who brings laughs and joy to a stressful environment as a fixed formula, Methawoot is sure to be that guy- he can brighten up the studio through his many tales. Even in the most stressful periods when everyone is working full of pressure, he leads a moody atmosphere into a positive one, improving efficiency and morale! Methawoot is a big PC fan, having both drive B, and floppy A. His very first games were Outrun, and Counter-Strike. Methawoot spent his childhood free time in internet cafes where he found himself interested in graphics and animation instead of Game development. Watcharaphong summoned Methawoot to be an intern in a remarkable company that produced early mobile games during the iPhone4X era, there he coincidentally met Nawapon and Kachain. To this day, Methawoot has never stopped his pursuit of personal growth, continuously learning and improving his knowledge of animation and visual effects. He has experience working with multinational organizations such as DreamWorks and various Malaysian companies. Impressed by our animations? No surprise! It was touched by Methawoot’s hands.

keymans_0001_Kachain

Kachain Puttiwarawut (Chain)

“I’ll lead by example to create a new belief that creating games can become a profession that can make a living for oneself and their families.”

"A shounen protagonist must face obstacles before becoming a great hero" describes the life story of a man named Kachain! He grew up in Chiang Rai, far from the country's capital. Kachain has had a strong passion for games ever since he could remember. He remembers leaning on the glass window watching his brother play console games, aiming to one day own his own games. Ever since then, he tirelessly chased his dream by waiting for game center promotions or studying hard to get outdated games as a reward. Unlike other co-founders, Kachain did not study art, animation, or coding, but graduated with a bachelor's degree in Management-Economy at Mae Fah Luang and a master's degree in Management-Corporate Finance from Mahidol University. In his adult years, Kachain pursued a stable corporate profession in society and kept games as a hobby, and accumulated many experiences from several notable companies. Eventually, Kachain met Watcharaphong, which inspired him to take a chance and leap toward his passion for gaming. To this day, Kachain helped to pave the way for FairPlay Studios with a red carpet fabricated from his blood, sweat, and tears, and priceless experience.
